Cat Pic of the day.

Memento Moments ..

For inexplicable reasons, I've suffered from severe lapses of memory over the last couple of days.

Yesterday, I forgot an entire conversation that I had had with a colleague.
Today, I have no memory of my drive back home. Or of when exactly the waiter delivered drinks to our dinner table.

That guy in Memento had it right all along. I must start tattooing stuff on myself soon...

So my folks won't be visiting ...

.. us this year after all. They don't seem too keen on staying here during the winter months. Which makes sense, considering how much trouble they've had coping with evern moderately low temperatures in the past.

So I'm going to redo my plans for the upcoming months. Ah well.

CNN.com - Olympians largely barred from blogging

CNN.com - Olympians largely barred from blogging

I guess supporting free and unrestricted speech is not part of the Olympic spirit. Kinda makes a mockery of all recent TV ads celebrating the ever-increasing number of democracies participating in the lympix...

If you (like me) have no idea how coffee beans are roasted, this is a good read.

Peace at last ...?

So moments after I get home from work today, I see Sher Khan purr and rub up againt Stubbys. Now while it would be very weird if he got into a habit of doing this, I'm taking it as a positive sign, after what has been a year of non-stop hissing, scowling and paw-slapping between these two. Hopefully, this gesture of friendship will result in long lasting peace..

..until the next time Stubbys bites Sher Khan on the bum, that is.

More nutritional misinformation ...

As if two conflicting nutritional information labels weren't confusing enough already, I recently ran into a THIRD label that puts Thums Up's calorie-count at a "110 Calaries". Yes Calaries. Sigh.

Cat Pic of the Day ...

Ahh yes ...

Blues at Shooter's ...

The Shooter's gig last Thursday was a blast. The bar was located in downtown Redwood City, which appears to be pretty dead after 10pm on Thursday nights. I arrived about an hour before the gig, played some pool with Rachel and listened to Casual Soul play some solid stuff onstage.

We went on next.

An annoying drunken fella decided to perform a free-style slow dance routine through our first few songs and then tried to harass Rachel and Apu who were sitting at a table upfront, but thankfully, he was quickly taken care of by the bouncer, who happened to be a Walker Texas, Ranger-lookalike. Thanks Walker, Texas Ranger, for keeping me from getting into my first bar-brawl ! :D. Heck, it turns out that my peeps got free drinks as a result of the whole incident. Yay.

The rest of the set went ok. A few couples danced to our faster numbers; a first for the band :). All in all, another good gig.

Lousy weekend ..

... started off with a lousy movie on Friday night, Alien vs Predator, which offered more laughs than DareDevil. /And trust me, DareDevil was funny. I was disappointed that the leading lady didn't make out with the Predator at the end, seeing how they had built up that kind of sexual tension all through the second half of the movie. Oh well. They can only pack so much wackiness into an hour and half long comedy.

Spent most of Saturday in bed, knocked out by a nasty cold and fever.

Managed to drag myself to an Okonomiyaki party hosted by one of Rachel's ex-colleagues on Sunday. Okonomuiyaki turned out to be this stuffed-pancakey-omeletty Japanese dish (and not Japanese sock puppets, as I thought it might be, for whatever reason) that I enjoyed very much. Also tried some Asahi beer, for the first time. Rachel and I had a sudden urge to have ColdStone ice-cream on the way back home. Bad idea when trying to recover from a cold. I know. But it was worth it. Yum.

I've been tired ever since we got back home. Started watching Startsky and Hutch on DVD, but I think I fell asleep. Don't think I missed much.

Spoke to mom on the phone. Got great news. She's down with some exotic fever and so is my dad. Yay.

I'm going to sleep. Hopefully next weekend will be more fun. If I can get through the week of work in between.

Burning bunny destroys cricket equipment

Burning bunny destroys cricket equipment

Should I be ashamed that I care about destroyed cricket equipment more than I do for poor, charred bunny rabbits?
